Jorma Panula is one of the most widely recognized and admired teaching conductors nowadays. He trained numerous now famous young conductors, such as Esa-Pekka Salonen,  Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Osmo Vänska, Niklas Villen, Petri Sakari, Ari  Rasilainen, Tuomas Ollila, Sakari Oramo, Susanna Mälkki, Mikko Franck etc.  Maestro Panula was a professor of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki from 1973 until 1993 and taught at the Stockholm Royal Academy and Copenhagen Royal Academy. He was principal conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic and from 1963 to 1997 he served as artistic director of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra of Finland and the Aarhus Symphony of Denmark. Today Maestro Panula works as a guest conductor and trains conductors all over the world including the United States, Russia, Sweden, Italy, Spain, France and Australia.

Conductors should prepare all pieces. All 8 participants conduct a piece on the final concert on 22 June. Maestro Panula decides who is going to conduct what piece. The course starts on the 18th of June. 19, 20, 21 are rehearsals, everybody has the same amount of time. Friday 22 June is a general rehearsal and concert.


Applications must be sent in before 01 February 2012, final list of conductors will be provided around 1 March 2012. The course fee is € 1.500
